Windows Vista Service Pack 2

So, I turn on my laptop this morning at 6:00, have breakfast, shave, read the paper, etc., etc., and when I return to my computer there is a message from Windows Update informing me that I have updates ready to install. I click to see what it is, and am told that it is Windows Vista Service Pack 2. What is strange is that the publication date is 6/30/2009. Today is 9/18/2009. Why does it take almost three months for Update to tell me about SP2? Whatever. If this is like other Windows Service Packs, it will take forever to install and require some rebooting, so I guess I will find something else to do for the next hour while Microsoft is taking over my machine.

Oh god Lakshimi, I hear you. I'm in freaking Nepal, if I want to do anything regarding my computer I have to schedule in at least an extra two hours into my day just to let pages load and to reboot my machine on the case of power outages, which happen pretty regularly and for hours at a time. Gah. I have such a love-hate relationship with computers. It's just so fucking time consuming. I've also come to highly dislike super-stylized pages that take for-fucking-ever to load when you're living in a third-world country. Like really, don't developers think about this sort of thing - more is not always better? There are so many sites that I've had to stop going to simply because the internet in Nepal can't handle it, or I'll be waiting around for hours and then there will be a power outage and the internet will stop working anyway. It's been getting mad frustrating, I'm starting to see the "advantages" of "technological progress" as being a...thing that's only good if you're from a privileged country. Ugh, but I'm rambling. I'm just annoyed that I can't really do much online anymore, and somehow seeing this post of yours regarding slowness and computers just triggered that frustration.
