What the hell is wrong with Firefox?

Firefox keeps finding new ways of failing. At first, it was hanging when I tried to close it. It seemed to close, but the firefox.exe process kept running, making it impossible to re-open the browser. A search indicated that add-ons can cause this behavior, so I uninstalled or disabled almost all of them. No dice. I also found that Firefox was reluctant to open new pages when I clicked links. Seems I had to click twice to get hyperlinks to work. And under no circumstances did it want to open javascript windows, even though I had not disabled this feature.

The last straw was when I tried to post the previous entry about Freedom Watch, and the Post button brought up the preview window instead of posting. I had to switch over to IE to complete the post. What is going on?

I have a problem when trying to open certain links. Often (about half of the time) it will crash when I try and click on a link to a torrent I want to download. If I don't have Bittorrent physically open it will crash about 90% of the time trying to initiate that application. When I do have it open it will crash Firefox about half of the time. I have this problem with a few other things -often the adobe plug-in (which I fear might be the true problem). I hate all things about that stupid adobe reader. Photoshop is the only thing adobe makes that doesn't totally suck and even THAT is 10x more complex than it needs to be to do the same job.

The problem seems to be concentrated on one or two of my computers. The rest don't have this problem.

I concur about Adobe. They make everything 10x more complicated and bloated than it has to be. (So does Microsoft, for that matter). I need Acrobat to read and create PDFs, so I just have suffer with Adobe products.

Firefox 2 ran flawlessly for me. Ever since I upgraded to 3, problems started occurring.

I can report that after I disabled every single add-on, Firefox seems to be running okay. Now maybe by enabling them one at a time, I can figure out what has be causing the problem. My suspicion is RealPlayer.
