Bad salsa

Friday night I got a craving for some salsa that we bought on Block Island. It was a very unique salsa, made from olives.

When I took it out of the refrigerator, I thought about that fact that it was a month old and was made without preservatives. But I detected no mold growing on it, and it smelled fine.

I had a bunch of it with blue corn tortilla chips.

And had a very rough night. I felt exactly like the time I had to spend a few days in the hospital with an intestinal blockage.

But everything came out all right in the morning, so to speak.

Thanks for the heads up on staying away from bad salsa. Lucky you didn't have to go to the hospital for food poisoning. Glad everything came out all right. ;-)

you got lucky! One of the few things that scared me about you was watching you eat un-refrigerated, homemade yogurt. That always bothered me as I feared for your health. I know that you explained many times that what you were doing was safe, I still felt VERY uneasy!

KeNt, I keep telling you, these are good organisms living in the yogurt!

I'll tell you though, after the bad salsa experience, I am done with Adventures in Food.

I know that you told me many times about the benefits of eating yogurt. I agree that yogurt is probably one of the best foods for humans. I always thought that your description of the safety of the yogurt that you were eating was due to the effect that the cultures were having on your brain. You know, like the more beer that one drinks the more likely they are to say that beer is OK or even good for you. Go yougurt-less for a couple of weeks and then I'll listen to you~! *smile
