In the zone

Been meaning to post this for days and am now getting around to it. I play basketball at 7:30 A.M. every Sunday at the IM building. My team won the first game but then lost the second, so I was sitting and waiting to get into the next game. I got bored just sitting so I went to an empty court to shoot free throws. After hitting 10 in a row I realized that I was in an exceptional zone. I ended up hitting 27 in a row before one finally rimmed out. That equals my career best for consecutive free throws. The other time I hit that many was a Saturday morning in the mid-80s in the Penn State DuBois gym. I used to bring my kids there when they were little. They ran around and I shot around. I didn't think I'd ever hit 27 in a row again. Never say never.

In the Zone
I remember how your eyes lit up in class when you talked about basketball players being in the zone. I'm sure your eyes were lit up that same way on that Sunday morning when you were in the zone. Too bad that feeling doesn't last forever. But, even a taste of it is always remembered with awe.

27 in a row...
I can't find anything significant with the number 27. Don't misunderstand me, this is clearly an accomplishment. Hell I'm lucky if I can make five in a row. I need to get back on the court. I have plans of spending some time playing basketball with a couple of my clients this summer (some of my best theraputic sessions have taken place on the basketball court). I'll hit the foul line after I'm back in the zone (as if I can ever get back in the zone *smile*). Congratulations on 27 free throws. I bet it felt great! I'm happy for you!
