I miss findsim.

The find similar users feature of LJ, whatever its technical shortcomings, was one of my favorite features. I hope someone writes the algorithm needed to bring this one back.

Nothing to forgive, since you are voicing your agreement!

Tell me something, Mad Latinist. My motto is Truth and Beauty. What would that be in Latin, Veritas et Pulchro?

Hmmm, well there are several Latin words one can use to translate "beauty," and I'm afraid I'm not enough of a poet or a philosopher to know which one Keats meant.

For lack of a better solution, I guess I would provisionally say Veritas et Pulchritudo. My reservation here is that I usually think of pulcher as meaning something more like "pretty" than "beautiful." Perhaps gratia "grace" or venustas "loveliness, attractiveness" would be better.

Note that this is a much easier question in Greek. It is likely that Keats had something in mind like the Greek word καλός (kalós), which can mean either "beautiful" or "good." So the Greek version would be either "‘Αλήθειά τε καί Κάλλος" (Alétheiá te kaì Kállos, note that due to the limitations of Unicode I can't get all the accents right on this browser) or perhaps better "τό τ' ‘Αληθινόν καί τό Καλόν" (to t' Alethinón kaì tó Kalòn lit. "that which is true and that which is beautiful.")

Sorry to give you such a lenthgy response without giving you an actual answer though.
