Dillweed

I have two recipes that call for dillweed. One is Swedish meatballs; the other is Veggie Bars. This evening I made Veggie Bars. I made a double recipe, so I used two teaspoons of dillweed.

I can't help but think of dillweed as a nasty epithet. Every time I use dillweed, I hear Butthead's voice saying, "Beavis, you dillweed!"

Maybe it was really "dil," short for dildo. The guys I grew up with used to say "You dildo!" when they were angry with each other. Which might explain why dillweed sounds like an insult to me.

I have started reading a fascinating book called The Science of Good and Evil, and it struck me as the sort of thing you might find interesting. The Science of Good and Evil is written by Michael Shermer (Chief Editor of Skeptic magazine), and he seeks to find underlying scientific principles in such things as the 'evolution' of morality, primate behavior, the biological basis for 'altruism', etc. I quite enjoy it; although it does get a bit dry at times, I don't think you'll find it boring at all.

Yes, I had heard of this book and made a mental note to put it on my reading list. Now that you've jogged my memory and given your own recommendation, I will make sure to get a copy. Thanks.
