My new LJ rule

This morning I just invented a new number one rule of LJ posting: When creating a long post, do it with a word processor and save it before submitting. I spent a good half-hour on a post on free will this morning, only to totally lose it when the submit function failed. I recreated it from scratch this afternoon, http://www.livejournal.com/community/atheism/372504.html?thread=5971224#t5971224 , and I'm not sure whether my recreation is better or worse than the original.

i've had that happen before. my method is, when i do a long post, just before i hit submit i highlight the entire thing and hit Ctrl C to copy it to the clipboard. That way, if the submit function screws up, i can just open a new window and paste the entry back in.

I've lost hour-long huge posts before due to submit button malfunctioning. Dirty rotten internet!

Of course there is another issue here, which is what the hell is wrong with us that we spend hours writing long LJ posts? ;-)
